Incentive to girls are provided from 1994-95 to encourage the enrollment of girls
and to avoid their dropouts. Under this scheme, the Government is giving a sum of
Rs.50/- per month to each student as incentive for 10 months of the year. Totally,
Rs.500/- has been given as one lump sum to the tribal girls, who are
studying in Standards III to V. .
Similarly in the scheduled tribes girls who are
continuing their education beyond VI Standard are given a sum of Rs.100/- each p.m. for
10 months. Girls Incentive Scheme is extended to VII & VIII standard from the year
2013-2014. Under this scheme, the Government is giving Rs.1500/- to each girl student
annually as one lump sum to tribal girls to those who are studying in
Government / Government aided school in VII & VIII Standard. This scheme was implemented by TAHDCO upto 1999-2000. From 2000-2001
onwards, this scheme is being implemented directly by the Directorate of Adi Dravidar
Welfare, Chennai.
